Santa Barbara County Plunging Deeper into Alternative Criminal Justice

The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors recently reviewed an analysis of the county’s criminal justice system, jail population, and efforts to reduce incarceration. The analysis showed that violent and property crime rates have declined, however the jail population has risen. With this information the board is planning to expand current diversion and alternative sentencing programs as well as implementing new community focused programs.
